Ahlulbayt News Agency: The University of Washington (UW) has suspended 21 students who were arrested earlier this week for occupying the Interdisciplinary Engineering Building during a pro-Palestinian protest.
According to a UW statement, the students involved in the protest demanding the university cut ties with Boeing have been banned from all UW campuses. Additionally, 13 non-student protesters who were arrested have also been barred from the Seattle campus.
The university cited significant damage to the building and its equipment, reporting that multiple dumpsters were set on fire outside the facility.
Boeing, a major supplier to the Israeli military, has donated over $100 million to UW since 1917, including $10 million for the engineering building. The protest comes amid growing concerns over U.S. military aid to Israel, which has received billions in funding since the outbreak of the Gaza war on October 7, 2023.
